Baby & Child 1st Aid Training

Every parent and caregiver should be prepared for all kinds of emergencies or accidents. Whether it’s for your child or any child at the park, we need to be ready with the knowledge and skills to make sure the babies and children around us are safe. You can learn and practice this information at our second Baby & Child 1st Aid Training Workshop for parents and caregivers. The full training description and ticket links can be found below.

What will we learn?

  • how to respond calmly and confidently in emergency situations
  • solutions for common accidents
  • first responses in critical accidents
  • specific topics: Recovery Position, CPR for babies and children, choking, cuts, serious wounds, shock, head injuries, drowning, poison, burns, nose bleeds, seizures, and more!

Who is this training for?

  • Parents, grandparents, teachers, babysitters of children 0-12 years old
  • If you are afraid of accidents or of not knowing what to do in an emergency situation, this training is for you!
  • If you have already had a 1st aid training, but it was more than 1 year ago, it’s a good idea to refresh your memory and practice again. 
  • This training is for adults. A limited number of Family Tickets are available so you can bring your 0-7m baby and another parent for support. We ask that older babies and children do not join this particular class.

In what language will the training be given?

  • English
  • The trainer is also fluent in German if you have questions.

Who is the teacher?

  • This class is led by paramedic and 1st Aid trainer, Helge Bechert. He is also a Montessori-minded parent with +7 years of experience preparing parents and educators for accident-prevention and emergency response.

Cancellations & Refunds
  • Cancellations are possible within 2 weeks of the course. A cancellation fee of €25 will be charged to cover administration costs.
  • For cancellations with 2 weeks of the class or on the day of the class, see the next point.
  • If you cannot attend for any reason, you can pass your ticket to another person. Please let them know that their ticket includes admission for 1 adult only. If you give your ticket to someone else, please inform me by email to katelynn@montessorimotherberlin.com

Notes:

  1. There are a limited number of family tickets for couples with babies 0-7 months old. All other tickets are for one parent only.
  2. You will receive a personal certificate of completion for this course from Montessori Mother ELC. This certificate is for personal use and can be used for volunteer work.
  3. This course is not covered by health insurance, but may be tax-deductible.
  4. This is not a certified course for carers or other employment purposes, but if you have a babysitter that does not need the certified course, they are welcome to attend!

Helge Bechert
paramedic & first aid trainer

Helge Bechert was born in Bremen and moved to West Berlin in 1988. He is a paramedic by profession and has been teaching first aid since 2016. One of his roles is as a first aid trainer for employees of Berlin public swimming pools. Since 2018, he has been a certified first aid trainer in the field of babies and children.

Katelynn Chittenden Johnson
Montessori 0-3 specialist, training host

Since the founding of Montessori Mother in 2017 Katelynn has guided Montessori classes, workshops, and consultations. She also teaches online classes, and has made the Montessori Mother Blog and Podcast. Katelynn has over a decade of teaching experience and holds the highest level of qualification for Montessori 0-3 as a certified Assistant to Infancy by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI).
